The willow-lined canals, lush green pastures and extensive soft, sandy dunes of Flanders need no introduction ; their beauty has been captured for centuries by some of the world's greatest artists. The Meetjesland, however is known only to a discerning few, yet it has much to offer anyone seeking peace and quiet.
Its one of those rare corners of Western Europe where time has virtually stood still and man has barely changed the face of nature.
Today its a land of creeks and polders, tall fields, « sleeping » dikes and old smugglers routes in the north and woodlands in the south which contain beautiful castles and castle farms.
The region is ideal for cycling, walking, relaxing and fishing and of course to discover the historical towns of Ghent , Hulst ( NL) 17 km - Bruges, Antwerp, Damme, Middelburg (NL) 40 km - Brussels, Oudenaarde 65 km
The Dutch North-sea Coast of Breskens, Knokke and Vlissingen is a 30 minute drive.

ASSENEDE is on the Belgium/Netherlands border and there are good connections by car or by train ( Ghent Station) / ( Eurostar/TGV/Thalys) to Paris, London, Amsterdam, Luxemburg and Cologne.

The NON SMOKING Cottage ' T Staaksken is situated atop an old dike, 2 kilometers from the gastronomic village of Assenede. The village is one of the oldest villages in Flanders .The little Dutch historical town Sas van Gent with his old harbour is only 1 km away.

The house has been extensively renovated over the past 10 years yet still retains its charming original character, where you will receive a warm and friendly reception. We are an English couple but we do speak a little of the local language of Flemish.
Situated 15 minutes walk to the centre of village Borgloon through some of their finest countryside, De Wens Bron is the perfect choice for a visit to many of the local attractions.
Our bedrooms have a mix of traditional and cottage style. All offer colour television, hairdryer, central heating, seating area and complimetary towels are provided.
Guest feedback has indicated a demand for tea and coffee making facilites in each room....so we've now included this in the price.
Breakfast includes full English or Continental upon request.

Magda and Patrick thoroughly enjoy welcoming guests to their home which has a spacious, timeless feel. It is situated in a residential neighbourhood just one mile outside Bruges’ railway station and historic centre. Although extremely quiet – it borders a peaceful park – the bed & breakfast provides easy access to the motorway and is easy to find when you come from the motorway.
Nicolas’ room is a very spacious double bedroom with a magnificent garden view and an area with a sofa for relaxation.

Sebastien’s room is furnished with bunk beds with a bottom bunk that is a double bed (measures 1.3m). You will also find a comfortable seating area, television and all your creature comforts.

Nicolas & Sebastien are adjoining rooms. As they are next to each other, they can also be joined into superb Family Suite. Both rooms are connected via door giving you the advantage of having a great suite or privacy when you need it.

Justin’s room is a double bed room with its own shower and private washbasin.

Our Attic-room has twin beds (which can be joined into a double) with a writing area and its own washbasin.

All rooms come fully furnished with fresh towels, soft bathrobes and ample storage space for your belongings.

Amenities: There is a luxurious Bathroom that is exclusively for the use of our guests. It is an ample sized room at 10.5 m² with bath tub, shower and two fitted washbasins.

If you like to enjoy the outdoors, we also have a beautiful Garden which Magda tends herself which you are welcome to lounge in on warmer days.

For Breakfast you are treated to a gourmet spread including fresh eggs (from our own chickens!), a wide selection of pastries, fresh fruit and warm/cold beverages.
